Renowned actress Rupali Ganguly has taken legal action against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, by filing a defamation suit in the Bombay High Court. The case stems from allegations made by Verma in a detailed video shared online. Ganguly’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, confirmed the development and elaborated on the reasons behind the suit, emphasizing the actress's intent to safeguard her reputation.
In an exclusive statement to Times of India TV, Sana Raees Khan said, "We have filed a defamation suit in the Bombay High Court to protect Rupali’s integrity and reputation from baseless and malicious attacks. This serves as a reminder that no one can misuse public platforms to defame others without accountability." She further explained that the allegations and claims presented by Esha Verma in her video were unsubstantiated, prompting the legal action to address the issue.
Responding to the defamation case, Esha Verma shared her perspective through a detailed statement on Instagram. She clarified her stance and expressed her intent to move forward. In her note, Esha revealed that her decision to speak up about her experiences, including issues involving her father Ashwin Verma, had been a challenging yet transformative step. "Speaking up was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it brought clarity, peace, and liberation from years of silence," she wrote.
Esha also addressed misconceptions surrounding her earlier statements and reiterated that her purpose was not to provoke further debate. She concluded, "This will be my final statement on the matter. My focus now is on healing, rebuilding, and embracing the next chapter of my life."
The unfolding legal battle has drawn significant attention, as the family dispute continues to be a subject of public and media interest.
